9.11.1 General Requirements

The Processing, Measurement, And Inspection Of Coupling Threads Shall Comply With The Requirements Of API Spec 5B Specification. Expanding The Diameter Is Not Allowed To Achieve The Required Thread Taper For API Threaded Couplings.

The Supplementary Requirements For PSL-2 And PSL-3 Products Are Provided In Appendix H.

Note: Due To Insufficient Pressure Between The Coupling And The Male Thread, The Anti Leakage Ability Of The Coupling Using API Thread May Not Reach The Yield Pressure Of The Pipe Body.


9.11.2 Couplings

If Specified In The Order, The Casing Couplings Shall Be Supplied In Either The End Processing Form Specified In Tables C1 And C2 Or Tables E.1 And E.2.

If Specified In The Order, The Oil Pipe Couplings Should Be Supplied In Either The End Treatment Form Specified In Table C-2 Or Table E.2.


9.12 Surface Inspection


9.12.1 All Processed Couplings Shall Not Have Any Defects That Would Damage The Continuity Of The Threads.


9.12.2 All Couplings Should Undergo Internal And External Surface Testing After Final Processing And Before Electroplating On The Inner Or Outer Surface. Longitudinal Surface Defects Should Be Detected Using The Alternating Magnetic Field Wet Fluorescent Magnetic Particle Method Of ISO 13665 Or ASTM E709, Or Other Non-destructive Testing Methods Proven To Have The Same Sensitivity To The Buyer. The Records Specified In Article 10.15.4 Should Be Kept.


9.12.3 After Consultation Between The Buyer And The Manufacturer, H40, J55, And K55 Steel Grade Couplings May Not Require Non-destructive Testing, But Internal And External Surface Appearance Inspection Should Be Carried Out After Final Processing And Before Electroplating, And There Should Be No Visible Cracks, Fissures, Or Pores. The Marking Requirements Are Shown In Table C.48 Or Table E.48.
